Uninvited Guest on Scandinavian Airlines

Here's what happened:

  • A mouse was found in a passenger's meal: A passenger on a Scandinavian Airlines flight from Oslo to Malaga, Spain, opened their in-flight meal and found a live mouse crawling out of it.

  • The flight was diverted: The airline decided to divert the flight to Copenhagen, Denmark as a precautionary measure, as rodents can pose a safety risk to the aircraft by chewing through electrical wires.

  • Passengers were transferred to another plane: Once the plane landed in Copenhagen, the passengers were transferred to another aircraft and continued their journey to Malaga.

  • Scandinavian Airlines issued a statement: The airline apologized for the incident and said that they had established procedures for such situations, which include a review with their suppliers to ensure it doesn't happen again.

Additional details:

  • The incident occurred on September 22, 2024.

  • There were 107 passengers on board the flight.

  • The flight was delayed for about 3 hours.

  • Passengers were provided with refreshments and compensation for the inconvenience.

Here are some reactions to the incident:

  • Some passengers found the incident humorous: One passenger shared a photo of the mouse on social media with the caption "Surprise! My lunch companion on Scandinavian Airlines."

  • Others were concerned about the safety implications: Some passengers expressed concerns about the possibility of the mouse spreading disease or damaging the aircraft.

  • The airline was criticized for its handling of the situation: Some passengers complained that the airline did not communicate with them effectively about the delay and the reason for the diversion.

Overall, the incident was a rare and unusual one, but it highlights the importance of food safety and hygiene on airplanes.
